Far from any kind of nationalism, the psalmist’s words “He has not done this to any nation” (Ps 147:20) inspire reflection on the unique influences that have caused us to perceive the world, ourselves and God in a precisely defined way, even within Slovenian culture and history.

In this perspective, on June 9, starting at 5 p.m., the “Roman evening of Slovenian theology” will be held in the library of the Pontifical Institute of Santa Maria dell’Anima (near Piazza Navona), organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia to the Holy See, the Pontifical Slovenian Institute in Rome ( Slovenian Academy of Theology), Theological Faculty of the University of Ljubljana and the Pontifical Theological Academy.

With it, they want to mark the 30th anniversary of the existence of the SŠK and the 50th anniversary of the awarding of the title “Papeški” to the Slovenik Institute. Ten Slovenian theologians will present their reflections, or of theology, of which four are of the younger generation, and the evening will be concluded by Dr. Francis Cardinal Rode. The men’s vocal group Tromostovje will participate in the singing, and an occasional art exhibition by the Slovenian painter Jože Bartolj, dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the Škofjelo Passion, will be opened.

On Saturday, June 10, at 11 a.m. at the Pontifical Slovene Institute in Rome (Pontificium Collegium Slovenicum de Urbe; Via Appia Nuova 884), a Slovene Holy Mass will be held in honor of the 50th anniversary of the title “Papal”.
