Theological-pastoral courses for younger Slovenian priests, which the institution organized in the years 1987-1997, were the closest to the original study purpose of Slovenik. They represented its active involvement in the critical task of every local Church today, to take care of the ongoing formation of priests (e.g. Pastores dabo vobis, 70 ff.).

The courses were held regularly in January, from the Feast of the Annunciation to the end of the month. They included lectures, visits to central Roman church institutions and meetings with their leaders, tours of significant cultural sights, meetings with the vibrant parish or other Church communities in Rome, trips to nearby or even more distant interesting religious and cultural places, rest and socializing. The lecturers tried to present contemporary views from the main theological and pastoral fields.

Around 150 Slovenian priests from their homeland, abroad and emigration took part in these courses.
