    How to Find Us?

The main entrance for visitors to Slovenik is located at Via Appia Nuova 884 and is easily accessible by public transport.

Personal Transport by Bus or Car

Follow the navigation or drive from the Roman ring road, exit 23–Appia, in the direction of the centre or s. Giovanni. Near Slovenik, turn left onto Appia Pignatelli, and then use the navigation system to get to the entrance to the courtyard (address: Via al Quarto Miglio 3).

    By Train

Buy an ATAC metro ticket (metro A) – direction Anagnina. Take the metro to the Arco di Travertino station or get off earlier at the Colli Albani station. At the Arco di Travertino stop near the fruit shop (in the direction of the shopping centre), get on bus 664 or 765 and drive to the stop in front of the Slovenik entrance. You can also get there by bus 663, which stops in the immediate vicinity, near the gas station behind Slovenik.

    By Plane

Ciampino Airport is located near Slovenik. You continue the journey from the airport to Slovenik with city bus 520, which takes you to the Capenelle Hippodrome. You change to bus 664 (direction Colli Albani) and get off on the opposite side of Slovenik. The ATAC ticket is valid 100 minutes from being stamped (the current price is 1.50 euros).

From Fiumicino airport, take a train or bus to the central railway station Termini, from where the same instructions apply as if you arrive in Rome by train – the easiest way is from the railway station Trieste Aeroporto (Ronchi dei Legionari), where Trieste airport is also located.

    Presentation of the House

The entrance to the building is decorated with various historical and artistic monuments connected with this Slovenian home in Rome. Behind the monumental bronze doors by artist Peter Černe, you can admire the statue gallery of France Gorše and the coloured window of the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius, the work of the academic painter and priest Stane Kregar.

To the opposite side of the entrance hall, there is a chapel with rich artistic furnishings, and next to it are rooms for the sisters who work in Slovenik. An upward staircase – it is also possible to use the elevator – leads to the first floor, where the rooms of the student priests are on the right wing. The rooms for pilgrims and other visitors are in the left wing. There are also rooms for pilgrims on both sides of the second floor. Most rooms, especially at the top of the building, have access to an outdoor terrace. From the entrance corridor in front of the chapel, stairs lead to the lower part, accessible from the courtyard side, especially for visitors with a bus or their transport. Opposite the staircase, there is a club room with a TV receiver, coffee and water machine; on the right, there is a laundry room for the needs of the house, a kitchen, a dining room and two multi-purpose halls. In addition, there is a rich library, which otherwise needs to be rearranged according to the profession’s requirements, which stores publications on the rich life and pastoral activity of Slovenians abroad and in emigration. On the left side, at the bottom of the stairs, is another section with rooms for pilgrims.

Inside the building are numerous works of art by creators from Slovenia, abroad, and emigration. Slovenik’s cultural and artistic wealth includes more than 120 works. Our visitors live inside a gallery.

    Conditions for Staying with Us

Although Slovenik is not a hotel accommodation, staying with us is pleasant. We try to make our guests feel at home. They are primarily pilgrims: large or small groups, individuals or families. We do not offer tourist accommodation but a home where the visitors mainly get spiritual peace, personal conversation, a place for prayer, Holy Mass or an in-depth meeting with oneself. We also provide a starting point for experiencing the beauty of the Apian Park and the history, beauty and message richness of the eternal city and the Vatican. Near Slovenik are the aqueducts and the old Appian road.

Guests who want to support the existence and further development of the Slovenian house, college students who are happy to chat about their homeland and life story, and the beauties of Slovenia decide to stay in Slovenik.
